Desert Rain
- ministry is 100% relational evangelism in a secure, closed country context. STINTers will be taking language classes to increase their ministry effectiveness.
- French is an asset, but not required. Additionally, since relationships are everything in this culture, the ability to easily make and deepen new relationships cannot be overstated.
- STINTers will be launching and pioneering a ministry in a new city, one of the most influential and spiritually open in the country.
Gateway
- this is a pioneering venture, targeting upper eschelon university students within this populous 10/40 window city. STINTers will be involved in relational evangelism with predominately Hindu and Muslim students. The partnership is a work in progress with our first STINT team going in this Fall, so activities may change.
- there will be language learning on the side with some humanitarian work as well, but the main focus will be to establish a campus ministry.
- English is the main language, but knowing Hindi or Marathi is a huge plus.
- we are trusting God that being on the campuses in the Gateway country will lead to the development of a city model. The campus is the beachhead which will be the gateway to bring the gospel to this city and to the nation.
United Kingdom
- the British Ministry is in a unique place historically as it has recently relaunched their student ministry. They are eager to develop student-led movements and bring Christ in creative ways to a truly post-Christian society.
- two types of opportunities are available with the UK partnership. The first is a STINT year with a national team. Ministry will be in partnership with local/national Campus Staff (metro) teams to help continue to pioneer very young campus ministries in the UK. STINTers will fully integrate with a nationally led team to bring Christ to British & international students through relational/initiative/creative campus evangelism, and the development/training of student leaders. No language learning is required, but cultural learning and integration into the British ministry is required.
- the second opportunity is to go to the UK as an exchange student with your university to a selected partnership city. You will be a student volunteer with the UK Campus Ministry helping to continue the pioneering of a local campus movement. This is ideal for current student leaders looking to continue their schooling while helping to accelerate a local UK movement.
- cultural sensitivity, emotional flexibility and team work are essential as STINTers will be fully integrated into a local team, city and national movement. The level of cultural adjustment required is considered higher than with a regular all-Canadian STINT team.
- proven experience working on mixed cultural teams, and living overseas will be favoured. – high initiative, ability to work on a team, ability to lead and humility are highly valued. *Note that the UK academic year is different from that of Canadian campuses.
South East Africa
- STINTers will be involved in strengthening fledgling campus movements in Kampala, Uganda and helping Uganda become a sender of missionaries to unreached peoples in the surrounding Muslim nations. There is also the possibility of pioneering some campuses outside of Kampala.
- our desire is to see Uganda become a sending ground of missionaries to the 10/40 window. As East Asia seeks to send missionaries west to the “STAN” countries, our goal is to see South East Africa send missionaries north towards North Africa and the Middle East.
East Asia
The goal of the East Asia Partnership is to help this region in East Asia see every campus have a movement that will change the campus, the country and the world while building and equipping spiritual multipliers for a lifetime of service in East Asia and abroad.
STINTers:
- will either expand existing catalytic ministry (strong emphasis on developing student leaders), or pioneer a new campus ministry where there is a heavy emphasis on evangelism
- will be on a team
- will take three hours of language learning per day
- need to take high initiative and have the ability to work unsupervised
- need a strong prayer life and faith in God; social maturity is key; knowing the local language is an asset
The national vision is to see EA become one of the world’s great sending bases of missionaries to the world, beginning with surrounding countries and eventually taking the gospel throughout Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim nations.
We hope to have three teams, each with six STINTers who will either take on existing movements or pioneer new ones for the fall of 2012.
Latin America
- the Latin American Partnership exists to help Latin students create movements of spiritual multiplication on their campus that will impact the world. In the next five years we want to mobilize students from many Latin countries to go to the 10/40 window. A critical part of this plan is raising up teams of STINTers.
- STINTers’ primary focus will be on campus ministry similar to that in Canada; it will be developed either on a campus where there is an existing ministry or in a catalytic situation.
- many of the Latin American ministries are very young so helping them organize and focus will be a key part of our partnership.
- we are currently determining future expansion in Latin America; presently we are set up to take STINTers to Panama.
- for 2012 we are praying for a team of two men and two women.
