1. With the online registration system will students have to send in any paper forms (i.e. a signed statement of faith or references)? The application and references are all digital. Once you have been accepted to a project you will need to send a few things to the Power to Change Students Project Office like your passport, visa application, and financial donations. The same website that you use to apply for project will also list all of the specific items that you need to send in and provide other helpful info as you prepare for project.

2. What if a reference person is unable to complete a reference digitally? We prefer that all reference be submitted digitally. You can talk to your local staff for other ideas for an alternate reference.

3. Does the digital application need to be completed all at one time? No. You will have a login and password and be able to return to your application until it is completed. Once completed you will “submit” it and the application will be forwarded for processing. After you have submitted your application you can check this account regularly for helpful instructions on what to do next to prepare for project.

4. Will applications be confidential? Yes. Completed applications can be viewed only by the Application Processor assigned to the project and by the overall Administrator. Project Directors and Project Staff will be allowed to view selected parts of the application for those accepted on their project (eg. testimony, ministry training).

5. What if this is my first time to fly? Will I be flying alone? Your international flight will generally be with other project participants. If there is no one else traveling from your home/school city, then you may be on your own for the initial stage of your trip. Be sure to let us know if it is your first international flight and we’ll be sure to pass along helpful information for your travels.

6. How will I know if I have been accepted? And when will I know? Once we have received your application and all of your references, it should take about two to three weeks for us to get back to you.
Your acceptance (or non acceptance) for the project will be initially communicated via email.
Upon acceptance, you can return to the Project Application Tool (PAT) and you will have a personalized list of next steps, support raising details, and the contact info of your Project Staff who will coach you through raising support.

7. Under what conditions is an applicant not accepted? We prayerfully consider all applicants and the information submitted. If we have concerns, we generally follow up with the reference person and/or directly with the applicant. An application will not be accepted if there is evidence of ongoing sin (ie. use of non-prescription drugs, immoral sexual activity, etc.), if there is evidence of an unteachable attitude or resistance to following authority/leadership, or if there is evidence that the applicant is not in agreement with our ministry philosophy and practices.
Some projects (like East Asia and Desert Rain) necessitate a higher level of training and maturity. An applicant not being accepted to one of these projects, may be encouraged to attend an alternative project.

8. What if my parents or church leaders don’t agree with my participation in a summer project? We strongly encourage applicants to listen closely to their parents and church leadership, recognizing that God has put these leaders in their lives for a reason. We can work with you to help you communicate with your parents or church leaders, and will consider what to do on a case by case scenario.

9. Is there a refund for the $75 application fee if I don’t get accepted? No.

10. When is an application considered complete? An application is considered complete when the student portion (all the questions) and all 3 references have been completed and submitted. It is your responsibility to check back regularly to your Project Application Tool (PAT) home page to ensure the references are being completed.

11. What about flight deviations? Generally we do not permit deviations from the original flight plan. However, sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that need to be considered. Please contact your Project Director, once you have been accepted, to discuss your situation.

12. What personal information should I not take when I go on project? Do not take your SIN card, Provincial Health Insurance card, original citizenship card, credit cards, or other hard to replace documentation. You will only need your Passport as your official ID for international travel.
